Nissan Motor Co. said Wednesday it posted a net loss of 115.76 billion yen ($780 million) for the April-June quarter due to the effects of auto tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The loss is a sharp turnaround from a profit of 28.56 billion yen in the same quarter last year.

The carmaker logged an operating loss of 79.12 billion yen in the three-month period, compared with 995 million in profit a year earlier, as sales fell 9.7 percent to 2.71 trillion yen.

The automaker did not release a forecast for the current business year through March 2026.
