Norwegian solar energy company Scatec has signed a PPA agreement in Egypt for a total capacity of 1.95 GW of solar energy and 3.9 GWh of battery storage.

The agreement is with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) and will run for a period of 25 years. Scatec is expected to close the deal during the second half of 2026. Compensation is based on the US dollar.

The facility is expected to deliver approximately 6,000 gigawatt hours of renewable electricity annually and will become the largest solar and battery investment in Africa. No financial details have been disclosed.
