HANOI, March 11 (Reuters) - Vietnam's airlines may be at risk of aviation fuel shortages from April due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the government said on Wednesday, citing the civil aviation authority.
* The government said in a statement that domestic fuelsuppliers can guarantee deliveries only until the end of thismonth, while suppliers have begun delaying shipments for variousreasons and may invoke force majeure clauses. * "The risk of a shortage of aviation fuel for Vietnameseairlines from April and in the following months is real," thegovernment statement said, citing the Civil Aviation Authorityof Vietnam. * CAAV has proposed that the government allow airlines toraise airfares in response to rising fuel prices. * Vietnam has removed its import tariffs on fuels and isalso looking to cut environment tax until May to supportairlines.(Reporting by Phuong Nguyen; Editing by David Stanway)
